Milan authorities to name one of streets after Anna Politkovskaya
The City Council of Milan decided to immortalize the memory of Anna Politkovskaya, the Russian journalist from the "Novaya Gazeta". It was decided to name one of the streets after her.
Milan MPs decided to mark the contributions of murdered Anna Politkovskaya in defence of human rights and her work in the Caucasus. The decision to name one of the streets after the journalist was made at the session held on February 28, the edition "Il Tempo" reports. The initiators of that decision were activists from the human rights organization "AnnaViva".
According to Nadezhda Prusenkova, Press Secretary of the "Novaya Gazeta", the street named after Anna Politkovskaya may appear in Milan this summer, the "Interfax" reports.
Earlier, a street in the Italian city of Ferrara was named after Anna Politkovskaya. Besides, in Rome, there is a square named after the Russian journalist. It is located in the park of Villa Doria-Pamphylia. In 2009, the street named after Anna Politkovskaya appeared in Tbilisi.
