Election campaign to start in Armenia on April 8

The Central Election Commission (CEC) has approved the schedule of activities relating to the conduct of the parliamentary elections. The election campaign will begin on April 8 and will be over on May 4.

The parliamentary elections will take place on May 6. The schedule of the campaign was approved at an extraordinary sitting of the CEC, held on the evening on February 24.

According to the schedule, documents for registration of candidates under the proportional electoral system should be submitted to the CEC from midday to 6:00 p.m. on March 22. The registration period of candidates under the proportional system is from March 22 to April 1.

Within the same period, i.e., from March 22 to April 1, registration documents should be submitted to the constituency election commissions by those candidates who intend to run for MPs in the majority constituencies.

It is planned that the voters' lists will be posted on the CEC website on March 27. On the same day, i.e., 40 days before voting, the lists should be placed in the polling stations.

According to Tigran Mukuchyan, Chairman of the CEC, the schedule approved by the CEC, is another indication of the transparency and full controllability of the electoral process.
