Djioeva not to ask for political asylum outside South Ossetia
Alla Djioeva, an ex-presidential candidate in South Ossetia, remains under guard in hospital of Tskhinvali. According to her story, she would not seek political asylum outside South Ossetia and Russia. Her supporters also report that she has failed to get at the hospital a copy of the official conclusion of the forensic examination on the fact of her bodily injuries.
"If not for my voters, I'd probably make a different decision. But I can't leave them; and therefore I won't ask for political asylum. However, I believe that Russia has healthy forces that can turn the situation into the right route," Alla Djioeva said today, as quoted by the "Interfax".
She has noted that armed men are still on duty outside her hospital ward. "I don't know for what purpose they are here. Maybe they are guarding me here, because I can fly away from my fifth floor. Nobody explains why they are in the hospital," said the politician.
On February 21, when asked from the studio of the radio station "Echo Moskvy" about the time of her discharge from hospital, Alla Djioeva replied that she thought it would be "today or tomorrow."
"But what my future fate will be – nobody knows," Ms Djioeva said, adding that she had appealed to her physician and the cardiology department head asking to show her whatever document justifying the presence of armed men around her, but received no response.
