In Georgia, "Week of occupation" begins

Within the "Week of occupation", which began on February 21 in Georgia, a number of events are scheduled, in which schoolchildren of the country will listen about the "Soviet occupation" and the "Russian aggression".

"Annually, during the second half of February, the Ministry of Education and Science holds events dedicated to the occupation of Georgia by Russia and aimed to give schoolchildren a maximum of information about Russia's aggression in 1921 and 2008," the "News-Georgia" quotes the press service of the Ministry as stating.

Participants of the actions "in memory of the victims of the struggle for independence" will wear red poppy flowers at their breasts, the Georgian TV Channel "PIK" reports.

On February 25, Georgia each year marks the Day of the Soviet occupation. It was announced by the Georgian parliament in 2010. According to the interpretation of these events by the Georgian authorities, on that day in 1921 the military units of the 11th Red Army "occupied the Democratic Republic of Georgia."
