In Kabardino-Balkaria, FMS officials tell students from Syria about possibilities for moving to Russia

On February 21, in Nalchik, staff members of the Federal Migration Service (FMS) of the Kabardino-Balkaria met students from Syria, who are studying in the universities of the republic, and told them about the nuances of the immigration laws of Russia and the opportunities for moving to Russia.

According to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent, 90 students from in Syria are studying in Kabardino-Balkaria.

Opening the meeting at the office of the International Circassian Association (ICA), Arsen Mukozhev, Director of the ICA Office, has noted that, in connection with the events in Syria, there is a growing number of Syrian Circassians, who wish to leave the country and return to their historic homeland Northern Caucasus.

"You can use the period of your study to obtain a residence permit and then a citizenship," the official advised the students.

"At present, unfortunately, the federal law does not provide any simplified procedures for the Circassians from Syria in connection with the situation," noted the speakers. "If any of them appear, we will be glad to use them."

Silvano Tolustan, the student of the Medical Faculty of the Kabardino-Balkarian State University (KBSU), told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that in her hometown of Aleppo "there was no electricity, food prices increased"; earlier, her relatives sent her 300 US dollars per month, and at present, only 150 US dollars. "We have to economize on everything," she has emphasized.

Kablo Mukhamed Nur studies at the preparatory department and learn the Russian language to enter the department of computer science. His relatives sent him 130 per month. "At present, it is enough; however, I do not know what will happen next," he stated.
