Abkhazian cities host rallies after attempt on Alexander Ankvab

Spontaneous rallies in connection with the terror act against Abkhazian President Alexander Ankvab were held in the cities of Sukhumi, Gudauta, Tkuarchal, and Ochamchira. Protesters expressed their indignation about the fact that none of the six attempts on Alexander Ankvab had been solved.

In Sukhumi, the rally was organized by young people in the Bagapsh Square. It was attended not only by the young activists, but also by older people.

"We condemn the incident; the criminals must be found and punished. This is a campaign of terror against our country. We should fight together against that," said Mizan Zukhba, the participant of the rally.

The war participant Ruslan Inapshba, Hero of Abkhazia, and Priest Vissarion (Aplia), Acting Chief of the Sukhumi-Pitsunda Diocese, also spoke at the rally.

"Whatever the President is he is a symbol of the state. A person, who shot in the President, shot in our state. This is an outrage. We must do something!" said Vyacheslav Ablotiya, who participated in the rally in Sukhumi, in his interview to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

Kiasou Khagba, the actor of the Abkhazian State Drama Theatre, treats the incident as lawlessness. "There were several attempts on Ankvab; however, for some reason no one knows anything about the criminal who did that. I feel very unpleasant and difficult. There are people who are responsible for solving those attacks. They must do something! This is a mockery of the people, where the crimes had not been solved," said Kiasou Khagba.

Poet Gunda Kvitsiniya also believes that the criminals, who laid their hands on the President, committed an attempt on the state and the people. "I want them to be found and punished to the fullest extent of the law," she said.
