In Volgograd, drug police major sentenced to 9 years of imprisonment for drug dealing

On February 13, the Dzerzhinsky District Court of Volgograd sentenced Alexander Savelyev, Chief of the Operational Service Division of the Department of the Federal Drug Control Service of the Russian Federation (UFSKN) in the Volgograd Region, to 9 years of imprisonment in high security colony for sale of narcotics.

The investigators and the court revealed that in February 2011 Alexander Savelyev with the help of his subordinate Alexei Rudometov, the investigator of the UFSKN, tried to sell 160 packages of psychotropic drugs with total weight of not less than 25 grams. Besides, during the search of his working place and his personal search, the investigators found and confiscated about 120 packages of the same drug.

Alexander Savelyev was found guilty under Article "Attempt of illegal sale of drugs by a person using his/her official position on a large scale" and "Preparation for sale of drugs on a large scale" of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, the "Interfax" reports.

Apart from Alexander Savelyev, the dock contained his acquaintance Eduard Shalaev, who together with Alexei Rudometov tried to sell packages with psychotropic mix. The court sentenced Eduard Shalaev to 8 years of imprisonment in high security colony.

Earlier, Alexei Rudometov, the investigator of the UFSKN, pleaded full guilty and filed a petition for consideration the criminal case against him in a special manner. At the end of 2011, Alexei Rudometov was sentenced to 5 years of imprisonment in high security colony, the RIA "Novosti" reports.
