Three villages of Volgograd Region remain cut-off from motorways

Three dwelling settlements in the Kamyshin District of the Volgograd Region remain isolated from motorways because of the snowstorm. In total, 749 people live there.

On February 7, a strong storm forced the authorities of the Volgograd Region to suspend traffic along a nearly 60-kilometre section of the highway Saratov-Volgograd. More than 90 settlements with a population of nearly 50,000 people remained without motor communication because of snow.

At night on February 10, the highway was opened to traffic; however, several settlements still remained cut-off," the "Volgograd Business Television" reports.

Today, the work of clearing the roads will continue. Foodstuffs will be brought by an all-terrain vehicle at requests of the heads of communities, the RIA "Novosti" reports with reference to a source from the Southern Regional Centre of the Russian Ministry for Emergencies (MfE).
