Chechnya opens warm-up centres for people

Because of the anomalously frosty weather, the Chechen Ministry for Emergencies (MfE) has set up round-the-clock premises, where people can come in and warm up.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed by a source from the Chechen MfE that two such centres were opened in the cities of Grozny and Gudermes.

"In Grozny, the warm-up centre is at No. 56 Pavla Musorova Street, and in Gudermes – at No. 13 Eremenko Street. Each centre can accommodate 26 people," said the source.

He added that the centres work in the round-the-clock regime; and the citizens, who address there, will be rendered all the necessary assistance.

The territory of Chechnya is under extremely severe frosts. The air temperature at night reaches minus 29 degrees. Experts say that earlier such cold weather was observed in the republic back in 1970.
