Over 200 apartment houses in Novorossiysk damaged by natural disaster

A rough sum of damage after a disaster in Novorossiysk made about 600 million rubles, Governor of Krasnodar region Alexander Tkachev reported on February, 8, at an emergency conference devoted to liquidation of the aftermath of an hurricane. According to the Governor, 208 apartment houses have been damaged in Novorossiysk as of the day.

It should be reminded that during the period of extreme frost atypical for this zone a wind storm with a speed of 47 meters per second befell on the region. The hurricane de-energized houses with 170 thousand people in tens settlements and 60 settlements were cut off heat supply. Power supply was completely re-established only by evening of February, 8.

According to Tkachev, the hurricane of February, 7, inflicted much more damage than the "natural disaster that happened one and a half weeks ago", "Interfax" reports.

By the calculation of the municipal authorities, an approximate damage from the hurricane in Gelendzhik makes about 30 million rubles. All in all, 37 objects, 18 social buildings and 19 dwelling houses were damaged. The children's hospital remained without a roof several days. The children and the whole personnel had to be evacuated.

Within only 24 hours 120 people were taken to the first-aid center of the local hospital. The majority of traumas were caused by foul weather. There were cases when people were knocked down by a strong wind, "Yugopolis" reports.

It was reported earlier that 57 persons who got traumas because of the wind storm asked for aid in the medical centers of Novorossiysk.

During the period from February, 8, till February, 14, classes were canceled in all the schools of Krasnodar region because of a twenty-degree frost expected in this region.
