25 persons died from hypothermia in Volgograd Region

With the onset of cold weather in the Volgograd Region, 25 persons died from hypothermia. This was reported by Natalya Kunitskaya, Senior Assistant of the Chief of the Investigatory Department of the Investigatory Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) of the Volgograd Region for Media Relations.

Let us remind you that on January 30 the Ministry for Emergencies (MfE) issued an emergency alert in connection with frosts with air temperatures of -30°C and below expected in the Volgograd Region in the coming days. The rescuers appealed to residents of the region asking to respect the safety precautions and do not go outside unless absolutely necessary.

On February 2, 12 Districts of the Volgograd Region and the city of Volzhskiy registered deaths from hypothermia, the "Volginform" reports.

In most cases, death took lives of people in state of alcoholic intoxication or people with no fixed abode, the "AIF-Nizhnee Povolzhye" reports.

On February 2, the Kamyshin Inter-District Investigatory Division received a report that six persons had frozen in the village of Dobrinka. According to preliminary information, five frozen persons were rescued, and one person died. At present, the investigatory team left for the place. The investigators are not able to reach the place quickly because of weather conditions and snow drifts on roads, the "V1" reports.
