Djioeva'a supporters in South Ossetia held a picket in front of the Russian Embassy

On December, 20, supporters of Alla Djioeva, ex-candidate for the Presidency of South Ossetia, held a picket in front of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in South Ossetia planned earlier. The participants declared that they had come to express their protest against non-fulfilment of the agreements between the authorities of the republic and the opposition and support Vladimir Putin at the presidential election in Russia. No more than 50 people were present at the picket.

The leaders of the picketers were invited to the building of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in South Ossetia where the personnel listened to their demands. One of Djioeva's supporters, member the republican Social-democratic party Sergey Zasseev told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that "part of the picket was devoted to observance of all the points of the agreement between the opposition and the republican authorities, i.e. adoption of a resolution of resignation of Prosecutor General and Chairman of the Supreme Court of South Ossetia. During the second part of the action the participants expressed their support to Vladimir Putin at the forthcoming presidential election".

Zasseev said that Mayor's office denied the participants' request of authorization of the picket. "We submitted a notification of holding the picket to Mayor's office of Tskhinvali. We first received no reply at all and yesterday they sent us a statement of denial. In spite of this, we still held the picket. There were no aggressive actions on the part of the picketers", Zasseev emphasized.

The picket went concurrently with a meeting between Vadim Brovtsev acting as President of South Ossetia and Alla Djioeva. According to Zasseev, the meeting was successful. "The major issue under discussion was manpower policy, or, to be more precise, including representatives of the opposition into the Apparat of the Government", Zasseev said. He added that the next meeting of the oppositionists with Brovtsev would be held after General Barankevich, Jioeva's supporter, who was in the territory of Russia at the moment arrived in Tskhinvali.

Representatives of Press service of the Apparat of the Government of South Ossetia informed that public opinion would be taken into consideration in process of personnel selection to the Government of South Ossetia.
