"United Russia" in Chechnya polled 99,5% votes: Central Election Committee found no violations, the observers disagree

The turnout for the election of deputies of State Duma and bodies of municipal authority in Chechnya on December, 4, made 99,45%, Central Election Committee (CEC) of the republic reports sating the absence of complaints of violations. According to CEC, "United Russia" polled 99,48 % votes and the rest of the parties polled 0,38%. Local observers sate a large-scale forgery at the election.

According to a representative of the Election Committee of Chechnya, residents of the highland Vedeno district were the most active electors.

"The military were also active in voting", he says.

Meanwhile, local experts reported that the electors' activity was not as high as local officials state and the figures announced by the Election Committee testify to a large-scale forgery at the election, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent Alexander Ivanov reports.

If one believes CEC it emerges that the communists, members of "Fair Russia" and "Yabloko" parties voted against themselves in favour of "United Russia" which is absolute nonsense.

However, in his opinion, such results of parliamentary and municipal election in the republic were quite predictable. "Yet a week before there was an information of some public opinion poll according to which no less than 96 % of the citizens intended to take part in the election. Still then it was comprehensible that there was a respective instruction and our republic would demonstrate improbable figures of voters and supporters of the ruling party as usual which in fact happened", the expert said.

On December, 4, employees of the Ministry of Public Health of Chechnya reported that they were forced to go to polling stations under the threat of partial stoppage on their wages. According to medical personnel, they were conveyed to polling stations by buses and voted independently on their real permanent addresses.

Besides, the observes pointed out the presence of a great number of personnel of schools and other institutions at the polling stations who were staying in the buildings where divisional election committees worked during all the daylight hours and pretended to be citizens who came to take part in voting.

According to the Ministry of Interior Affairs of Chechnya, no emergencies or other serious incidents were registered on December, 4, in the territory of the republic. The election day in the republic passed in a calm atmosphere, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent Muslim Ibragimov reports.
