Foundation of Circassian culture “The Adygeis” presented in Moscow

On November, 27, presentation of Foundation of Circassian culture “The Adygeis” named after Yury Kalmykov was held in the Cinema Center of Moscow. About two thousand people took part in it: natives of the republics of Northern Caucasus, businessman, workers of culture of the capital.

According to the organizers of the Foundation, its goals are popularization and development of Circassian culture, studying and maintaining the heritage of the ancestors. The basis of the organization’s activities will consist of programs aimed at development of science and art, teaching ideology of peacemaking and creation to the young people.

The Foundation’s activities will be financed by sponsors, at any rate no financing from state budget is stipulated, documentary filmmaker Izmail Kozhemov, one of the constitutors of the organization, told the “Caucasian Knot” correspondent.

  • Rights defenders give number of kidnapped people in Chechnya

    At least 80 residents of Chechnya have been kidnapped after a car with a DUSTUM license plate was set on fire; volunteers have identified the names of a number of them. In the village of Starye Atagi, Urus-Martan District, about 50 members of the Saif-Islam Elmurzaev family, suspected of setting the above car on fire, have been kidnapped; and about 30 people have been kidnapped in the Shali District, the "Memorial" Centre for Human Rights Defence (CHRD)* has reported.
