Russian presidential election appointed for March 4, 2012

Today, the 306th session of the Federation Council adopted the house's resolution on the appointment of the Russian presidential election. The election will be held on March 4, 2012. On this issue, senators adopted the resolution of the house, which would come into force from the date of its official publication.

Since in 2012 March 11 is a working day due to shift of days off in connection with the holiday of March 8, the election shall be appointed for March 4. This was reported by the website of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of Russia.

The agitation stage of the presidential election in the media will begin on next February 4 and end at 00:00 a.m. local time on next March 3. Then the so-called "day of silence" will pass. According to the established tradition, the Central Election Commission (CEC) will announce the preliminary election results in the morning on March 5. However, the CEC should summarize the official results no later than on March 15, the "ITAR-TASS" reports.

The presidential election will take place in exactly three months after the parliamentary elections. This time, the President will be elected for six years.
