The draft-dodgers in Armenia who come to military registration and enlistment offices of their own free will be exempted from criminal liability

Draft-dodgers in Armenia who still come to military registration and enlistment offices during the autumn conscription will be exempted from criminal liability. This is a statement issued on November, 24, by Public prosecutor’s office of Armenia.

“Prosecutor General of Armenia issued an order to public prosecutors of districts and communities to alter preventive punishment in form of arrest immediately and stop search and criminal prosecution concerning accused conscripts who come to the police or military registration and enlistment offices and express their readiness to serve in the Armed Forces”, “Novosti Armenia” quotes the statement of Public prosecutor’s office.

Prosecutor General’s also appealed to the conscripts’ parents calling to help returning their sons to their motherland.

It was also emphasized that there would be no criminal prosecution against persons who express a wish to go to alternative non-military service, IA “Novosti Armenia” informs.

  • Rights defenders give number of kidnapped people in Chechnya
