“Aiastan” Foundation in Europe collected over 1,3 million euro for Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh

The twelfth European telethon for fund-raising of All-Armenian Foundation “Aiastan” passed off in France on November, 17 – November, 20. Armenians residing in the country expressed their readiness to render Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh aid to a total sum of over 1 million 300 thousand euro.

Within the framework of the action about 700 volunteers from five cities of France (Paris, Lyons, Marseilles, Nice and Toulouse) were calling around 60 thousand Armenian families and organizations in total for 12 hours. The families were suggested to take part in the initiative aimed at restoration of Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh by their donations.

Armenian communities of Switzerland, Germany and Greece also took part in the all-European telethon, “Armenia Today” reports.

France has been organizing such telethons since 2000. During 11 previous telethons 441285 calls were made and almost 10 million euro collected. The money was sent for improvement of infrastructure of Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh, “Panorama.am” reports.

  • Rights defenders give number of kidnapped people in Chechnya

    At least 80 residents of Chechnya have been kidnapped after a car with a DUSTUM license plate was set on fire; volunteers have identified the names of a number of them. In the village of Starye Atagi, Urus-Martan District, about 50 members of the Saif-Islam Elmurzaev family, suspected of setting the above car on fire, have been kidnapped; and about 30 people have been kidnapped in the Shali District, the "Memorial" Centre for Human Rights Defence (CHRD)* has reported.
