Writer Rafiq Tagi dies in Azerbaijan

In Azerbaijan, writer and publicist Rafiq Tagi has died. On November 19 he was attacked and got numerous knife wounds.

The writer was hospitalized in grave condition to resuscitation ward and underwent a surgery. After the surgery, the state of Tagi's health has stabilized to some extent.

However, this afternoon Tagi suddenly felt bad. "At about 3:00 p.m., he said that he wanted to vomit. We wanted to give him a package to vomit. However, at that moment... he has gone," said Ilgar Tagiev, the writer's brother.

Medical practitioners from the clinical centre have not yet commented on sharp deterioration of Rafiq Tagi's health.

On November 22, RafiqTagi himself stated that the attack on him could be caused by one of his last articles "Iran and inevitability of globalization", which criticized the regime of the mullahs in Iran. The Iranian Embassy denied any involvement of the country in the attack on Rafiq Tagi.
