About one and a half thousand people took part in a meeting against oil terminals in Yeisk

On Sunday, November, 20, an ecologic meeting “Yeisk without liquid bulk terminals!” was held in the town of Yeisk, Krasnodar region. Its participants came out in opposition against operating oil terminals by “TTDH” and “Yeisk-port-Vista” companies in the center of the health resort.

According to the organizers of the action, about one and a half thousand people took part in the meeting.

An activist of “Environmental Watch on North Caucasus” told the “Caucasian Knot” correspondent that the participants of the action demanded to acknowledge environmental situation in Yeisk “a catastrophe threatening the residents’ health and wellbeing and also to prohibit construction of a cargo ferry and operating oil terminals in the town”.

Among the participants’ demands there was prohibition of implementation of railway ferry Yeisk-Kerch project designed for transshipment of liquid gas.

During the meeting the participants advanced a claim of holding a local referendum on prohibition of operating environmentally dangerous objects in the territory of Yeisk district.
