Kaziev: policemen who failed to prevent attack on "Anji" fans sacked

15 Ingush policemen, involved in the attack on Dagestani fans, were dismissed. This was reported by Nizami Kaziev, Acting Prime Minister of Dagestan.

Let us remind you that on October 16 the Makhachkala "Anji" FC played a regular match of the Russian Football Championship in the city of Nalchik with the local "Spartak" FC. The game ended with the score 1:1. Few hundreds of Dagestani fans went by buses to the capital of Kabardino-Balkaria to watch the game. In Ingushetia, a column of buses was stopped by armed men. According to eyewitnesses, they started to throw stones to the buses and to beat the fans.

"Of course, the incident angered Dagestani fans, but it also surprised them. This, based on the principles of our common morality, is simply inadmissible. However, we do not see any ethnic background of the incident," Nizami Kaziev said.

Specifying the details of the incident, the fans told the Ingush side that the police officers failed to prevent hooliganism and, moreover, themselves took part in the riots.

At present, the incident is under the control of Magomedsalam Magomedov, President of the Republic of Dagestan, and Yunus-Beck Evkurov, the leader of Ingushetia, Nizami Kaziev stated.

"No one will escape responsibility. In any case, those police officers, who were on duty at that time, that is, about 15 people, have been already fired. Our fans should have no doubts that all guilty persons involved in the attack will be punished," Acting Prime Minister of Dagestan said.

Meanwhile, in the course of the meeting, representatives of the Dagestani government denied the information about beating of Ingush students.

"Today, I received information that some illegal activities are being committed against students from Ingushetia studying at the Dagestani Medical Academy. We hurried up to check this information and found out that no cases of oppression of Ingush students occurred. The only thing we faced with was the fact that parents of the students phoned and called them to go home. Besides, yesterday the law enforcement bodies received 16 telephone calls about attacks on the Ingush people. All that telephone calls were false," said Gasan Idrisov, the head of the presidential and government administration of the Republic of Dagestan.

The information about persecution of the Ingush students at the Dagestani Agricultural Academy was also refuted, reports the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

After the meeting, representatives of Dagestan and Ingushetia assured that the course of the investigation into the incident with the fans of the "Anji" FC would be highlighted in the media, the victims would receive compensations, and all guilty persons would be punished in accordance with the law.

Let us remind you that on October 18 Adam and Islam named Gazdiev, residents of the town of Nazran (Ingushetia), were arrested on suspicion of attacking the fans of the "Anji" FC.
