Arrest of eight defendants in December 2010 Moscow explosion case extended

Today, the Basmanny Court of Moscow has extended the arrest of eight defendants in the case on the explosion in the Moscow shooting club "Object", which occurred on December 31, 2010, until the end of December this year, Ekaterina Korotova, the press secretary of the court, reports.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the explosion on December 31, 2010, in a one-story brick house in Golovachov Street in the territory of the shooting club "Object" in Moscow killed a young woman. It was supposed that an improvised explosive device (IED), intended for a terror act, occasionally blew up.

The court has ruled to extend the custody of Arthur Magomedov, Shamil Baimametov, Ilyas Saidov, Khairulla Magomedov, brothers Sultan and Sadir Abdulkerimov, Timur Akubekov and Zeinab Suyunova until December 29, 2011, said the press secretary.

At the same time, during the court session it became known that Arthur Magomedov and Zenab Suyunova, which had supposedly prepared as a suicide bomber, surrendered to law enforcement bodies, the RAPSI reports.

Let us remind you that on January 5, 2011, in Volgograd, a native woman of Chechnya was detained on suspicion of involvement in the above explosion. In total, ten persons were detained under this case, eight of them with the sanction of the Basmanny Court of Moscow were taken into custody; the term thereof had been repeatedly extended.

The figurants are accused under Articles 30, 205, 209, 222 and 223 of the Russian Criminal Code (preparing to commit an act of terror, banditry, illegal trafficking in weapons and explosives, and illegal manufacture of weapons). These articles assume up to life-long terms of imprisonment.
