Medvedev in Sochi called for returning gunmen to peaceful life

During a meeting between President of Russia and Head of Dagestan which took place in Sochi last week Dmitry Medvedev emphasized the necessity to “return people from paramilitary groups to peaceful life and reestablish their normal mentality”.

“Anyone who is unable to do it and continues resistance has a very grave future: such a person will be either imprisoned or killed. It is necessary to return home everyone ready for that using all possible legal methods for this purpose”, Dmitry Medvedev said. Head of Dagestan considers that terrorist and extremist threats is one of the factors holding back development of Dagestan.

Head of Dagestan said it was a complex problem which could not be solved by the use of force only but in his opinion, the power component should be supported and strengthened.

Magomedov also pointed out that such actions were being undertaken within the framework of the Presidential Committee for adaptation of persons who decided to stop terrorist and extremist activities in the territory of Dagestan to peaceful life and over 40 persons had already been successfully adapted.
