Dagestan: case of beating lawyer Sapiyat Magomedova by militiamen sent to court

The indictment has been approved in Dagestan on the criminal case against employees of the OVD of Khasavyurt, accused of beating the lawyer Sapiyat Magomedova, said the prosecutor's office of Dagestan.

The charges have been brought against four out of the five militiamen, who had beaten Sapiyat Magomedova.

Magdiev and Mollaev were put in custody. The criminal case was investigated by the division of especially important cases of the Investigatory Department for the Republic of Dagestan of the ICRF.

One more militiaman took part in lawyer's beating; however, Sapiyat Magomedova was unable to identify him with certainty; therefore, he was not charged, runs the statement of the Human Rights Centre "Memorial", received by the editorial board of the "Caucasian Knot".

Let us remind you that the lawyer of the Bar "Omarov A. S. and Partners" Sapiyat Magomedova was beaten on June 17, 2010, when she to the Khasavyurt GOVD to meet her client Malika Evtemirova. On July 1, 2010, a criminal case was initiated against employees of the Khasavyurt GOVD under the article on abuse of office. On the following day a criminal case was opened against Magomedova herself under the article of "insulting a state official". Since September 30 of last year Sapiyat Magomedov is under recognizance not to live.
