Arrested natives of Northern Caucasus are accused of preparing blasting of “Sapsan” train

Four supposed terrorists whose detention was reported on July, 18, were planning to organize an explosion of a passenger “Sapsan” train following from Moscow to Sr. Petersburg which enjoys great popularity with the politicians and businessmen.

Islam Khamuzhev, a twenty-two-year-old resident of Kabardino-Balkaria, is considered the supposed organizer of the act of terror. According to the investigation’s version, already after coming to Moscow he met his supposed accomplices: natives of Chechnya and Ingushetia Murad Eldibiev and Murad Umaev, and Fiarid Nevlutov who had come to the capital from Mordovia.

“During interrogation one of the defendants said that this June Khamzhuev suggested them to explode the passenger “Sapsan” train following from Moscow to Sr. Petersburg and the company agreed to take part in this act of terror. They bought a fertilizer based on ammonium nitrate in an appliance shop, cords and electric batteries”, “Commersant” reports referring to a source in Federal Security Service (FSS).

Murad Eldibiev agreed to commit terror in order to take revenge for the actions of federal troops in Chechnya in 1999, the source in FSS informed.

According to Murad Eldibiev’s attorney, he will advice his client to conclude a pretrial agreement of collaboration with the investigation. ”This, certainly, in case if representatives of FSS and Public prosecutor’s have no objections, - he added. – Because Murad has already told the investigation everything he knew even without that”.

The position of the rest defendants and their attorneys is yet unknown.
