The trial on cassational appeal on the case “Kadyrov vs. Orlov” deferred till October, 4

Khamovnichesky court of Moscow deferred hearing on the cassational appeal against the verdict of acquittal to Head of “Memorial” Human Rights Center Oleg Orlov submitted by Andrey Krasnenkov, attorney of Head of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov, till October, 4, the “Caucasian Knot” correspondent reports from the courthouse.

The reason is that neither Oleg Orlov himself nor his attorney came to court today. Judge Andrey Lutov declared that according to the information available, Oleg Orlov was on a vacation at the moment.

Attorney Henry Reznik was also absent in court and asked for deferment of the trial for he could not be present because of vacations and business trips. The court granted the motion of Orlov’s defense, RIA “Novosti” reports.

The case of slander was initiated against Orlov in connection with his statements about Kadyrov’s responsibility for murder of Natalia Estemirova, member of HRC “Memorial”. On June, 14, 2011, judge of magistracy No 363 of Khamovnichesky court of Moscow brought a verdict of acquittal acknowledging Head of HRC “Memorial” Oleg Orlov innocent.

Oleg Orlov did not recognize his guilt of slander concerning Kadyrov. According to him, he had spoken of “social and political”, not criminal liability of Head of Chechnya for Natalia Estemirova’s murder.
