The experts from the Scientific and Research Institute of Archaeology of the Dagestani Scientific Centre (DSC) of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS), who organized an expedition to the Derbent District of Dagestan, report about numerous unique findings in the tombs of Palasasyrt.

Dagestan has a lot of cultural and archeological monuments. The most famous among them are the historical and architectural complex in the village of Kala-Koreish, Juma mosque in the village of Kumukh and fighting towers of the 18th century in the village of Akhty. Numerous tombs, located in the territory of Dagestan, also attract interest of the scientists.

During the course of the expedition of the Scientific and Research Institute of Archaeology of the DSC of the RAS in the Derbent District, near the dwelling settlement of Rubas, the experts found artefacts from the tombs of Palasasyrt dated by the 4-5th centuries AD. These are semi-precious stones, pots and other household items, the RIA "Dagestan" reports.

The republic's authorities tend to use presence of a large number of historical sites in Dagestan for the development of tourism in the region. "We have a rich historical heritage: more than 6000 historical and architectural monuments in the territory of Dagestan. This fact opens an opportunity for religious tourism," Magomedsalam Magomedov, President of Dagestan, emphasized on June 25 in his interview to the "Caucasian Knot" and the "Gazeta.ru" correspondents.
