Armenia starts dialogue of government and opposition

Today, the first meeting within the dialogue between government and opposition was held in Yerevan. No top problems were discussed, as David Arutyunyan, the representative of the working group from the ruling coalition, said after the meeting.

"Approaches for the further dialogue were presented at the meeting, because the very dialogue between the government and the opposition presents the basis for the establishment of civilized relations and the beginning of possible cooperation. However, this does not mean that the political differences between the parties are fading away. I hope that these meetings will be continued, since the today's meeting was very efficient," said David Arutyunyan.

David Shakhnazaryan, the representative of the oppositional Armenian National Congress (ANC), confirmed that the meeting presented an interchange of views.

"We have reached an agreement on the fact that the meetings will discuss any issues. Our delegation announced once again that the way out of the crisis situation in the country was holding early parliamentary and presidential elections, and this issue should be clarified prior to this September," said David Shakhnazaryan.

Both representatives of the government and those of the opposition have indicated the need to continue such meetings.
