Relatives of the Moslems detained in North Osetia declared their readiness for a hunger strike

Relatives of the Moslems detained in North Osetia intend to go on a hunger strike if there appears no progress in the investigation by the end of the week, Madina Chibirova, mother of two detained members of the Moslem community, declared.

On July, 14, a meeting of the parents of the detained members of the Moslem community with journalists of local and federal mass media was held in the Religious Board of Muslims. During a three-hour’s long talk the parents spoke about violations of the law committed at the moment of their children’s detention and about the investigative procedure.

“My children have been kept in custody for already a month and a half by the moment, however even today we are unable to understand the reason. They have not been accused of complicity in a murder, this is not among the charges brought against them now, but at the same time there is not a slightest progress in the investigation. Duding these month and a half they have not interrogated me or my neighbours”, Madina Chibirova said the “Caucasian Knot” correspondent.

“If nothing changes until the end of the week we will go on an open-ended hunger strike. This is the only way to make the investigation advance and set our children free”, Chibirova declared.

Roza Lagkueva, aunt of detained Ramazan Lagkuev, a third-year student of the Mining and Smelting Institute, considers the detention of the Moslems and the investigation on their case illegitimate and unfair.

Lyana Gudzibeeva, wife of detained Ruslan Bigarov, states that her husband is in an investigative isolation ward in Vladikavkaz but he is denied meetings while Bigarov’s attorney visits him freely, Ruslan’s wife said.

Law enforcement bodies have not commented on the process of investigation yet.
