Rostov-on-Don: lawyer Ermakova on hunger strike gives recognizance not to leave

The investigators of Rostov Region have taken from lawyer Yulia Ermakova, who went on a hunger strike, a recognizance not to leave. According to her story, at the same time she passed the test on the "lie detector", which showed that she was telling the truth, rejecting the accusation of obscene expression in the courthouse.

On June 17 lawyers Yulia Ermakova and Irina Vasilenko went on continuing hunger strike. At the press conference "Lawyers against judicial arbitrariness" Yulia Ermakova stated that she had been tried to detain illegally in the courtroom (because she allegedly had used an obscene expression), and Irina Vasilenko said that she had been beaten and robbed again in the courtroom and in the judge' presence.

On June 18, after the responses from representatives of the Chief Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Rostov Region, the Investigatory Department of the Investigatory Committee of the Russian Federation for the region and the Regional Prosecutor's Office had been received, lawyer Irina Vasilenko stopped the hunger strike. Yulia Ermakova called these documents "formal replies" and stated that she intended to continue her hunger strike until she would receive responses from the chair of the Rostov Regional Court.

On June 22, after the latest response which Yulia Ermakova considered as formal reply, she applied to the embassies of the EU countries claiming political asylum. On June 23 doctors insisted on hospitalization of Yulia Ermakova, who was compelled to stop her hunger strike because of her poor health.
