The Ministry of Interior Affairs: an underage resident of Chechnya exploded policemen out of revenge

On June, 28, a nineteen-year-old resident of Urus-Martan district of Chechnya Yusup Magomedov was sentenced to six years and one month of custody by the court with service of the sentence in a general regime colony for committing an act of terror. The reason for Yusup Magomedov’s joining the gunmen became the murder of his close relative who had also been a participant of armed underground, a representative of law enforcement bodies of Chechnya considers.

Magomedov was detained by members of power ministries this March. Delivering the sentence the judges took into account a number of circumstances, in particular, the fact that Magomedov was underage at the moment of committing the crime.

“At the moment he was rather guided by a feeling of revenge than any other motives”, a law enforcement officer says.

According to the investigation, Yusup Magomedov made the acquaintance of Zelimkhan Arsamerzuyev, participant of a paramilitary group, on the internet. In 2009 the young man joined armed underground and later repeatedly provided members of PMG with food and other belongings. In April, 2009, the young man received an explosive device from Arsamerzuyev which he put under the bottom of a UAZ militia car in the settlement of Goiti and later, on April, 7, activated it.

Two law enforcement officers got wounded as a result of blasting.
