Dagestan hosts celebrations for orphans

Today, on the Day of Youth, festivities for orphans were organized in Makhachkala by the Public Movement "Dagestan without Orphans".

"We invited the orphans aged 18-23, who study at different higher schools or work. We made telephone calls to all the districts of Dagestan; and 60 persons confirmed their participation; in fact, 40 of them arrived," said Svetlana Alieva, a volunteer.

Raisat Osmanova, Executive Director of the Movement, said that in March this year they opened a social hotel for post-boarding school adaptation for girls-orphans girls and boarding school graduates, who had become young mothers and need housing where to live.

"The hotel has all conveniences and two bedrooms with three beds in each. One room is already housing two girls; a young mother lives in the second one; another young mother, who was today at the holiday, will move in today; we still have two vacant beds there," said Raisat Osmanova.

According to her story, the hotel has its own programme named "School of Life", under which the girls are trained in family life and study the Caucasian cuisine. Besides, they learn different crafts.

"The girls learn to sew for free and earn money at the same time. Besides, there are barber's course and a course of English. They may stay at the hotel from 6 months to 2 years. During this period, the volunteer of the Movement "Dagestan without Orphans" will solve the problem of their future employment or training. If someone has failed to get housing, we'll fight for apartments for them," said Osmanova.

The hotel may also accommodate and train the orphans who have their housing facilities. In this case, they can give their flats or rooms into rent for money, she added.
