Kokoity asks people of South Ossetia to refrain from actions in his support

After the incident in the parliament of South Ossetia, where initiators of actions in support of extension of the presidential term tried to put pressure on local MPs, Eduard Kokoity made a statement, in which he urged people of South Ossetia to refrain from actions in his support.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on June 15 supporters of the referendum in support of extension of the presidential term broke into the parliament building, where a heated debate burst out between them and the deputies about the law enforcement practice and prospects of South Ossetia's development. In protest against the pressure on them, some of the MPs applied for resignation.

On June 16, Eduard Kokoity addressed citizens of South Ossetia. "I call upon you to refrain from any actions and initiatives in my support as a presidential candidate for the third term. I'll need your help after the election, because I'm not leaving the political scene and I'll stay here with you to continue serving our Homeland," says his appeal disseminated by the "Res" Agency.

Earlier it was reported that the incident in the parliament was organized by employees of the State Security Service and the Ministry of Defence of South Ossetia.

On June 16, Valery Yakhnovets, Minister of Defence of South Ossetia, said that no servicemen from the armed forces of South Ossetia took part in any political actions, the RIA "Novosti" reports.
