Editions from Dagestan, Azerbaijan and Armenia receive Gerd Bucerius Prize

The Nobel Institute in Oslo has hosted the awarding ceremony of the winners of the 2010 Gerd Bucerius Prize in the nominations of "Free Press of Russia" and "Free Press of Eastern Europe". The Caucasian region was represented by laureates from Dagestan, Armenia and Azerbaijan. This was reported by the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent from the Norwegian capital.

The laureates of the Gerd Bucerius Prize in 2010 are Natalia Ivanishina, an observer of the newspaper "Ust-Ilim Pravda"; Zamin Gadji, an Azerbaijani journalist from the newspaper "Eni Musavat"; Marina Koktysh, a Minsk journalist from the newspaper "Narodnaya Volya"; the Ukrainian Internet newspaper "Telekritika"; the Yerevan-based Internet portal "A1+"; and the Dagestani edition "Chernovik". They will split the prize pool of 70,000 euros.

The Diplomas were awarded by Ms Gro Holm, a jury member and an observer for the Norwegian State Television and Radio Company.

The journalists from "Chernovik" could not attend the ceremony because of visa problems. At the request of the editorial board, their Honorary Diploma was received by Nadezhda Azhgikhina, Secretary of the Journalists' Union of Russia.
