Eighty peasants are on hunger strike in Krasnodar Territory

Eighty residents of the village Boiko-Ponura, Kalinin District of the Krasnodar Territory, went on hunger strike, said Alexei Volchenko, a farmer. However, the district administration does not confirm this information.

Mr Volchenko told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that the reason for the hunger strike was in eviction of residents from their homes, and violations admitted, in their opinion, during documenting land plots into ownership.

"Since 2005 people are trying to document their ownership of the land farm of the Agrarian Cooperative 'Kolos'. Among those interested to do it are pensioners, labour and war veterans," said the farmer. "They passed through all the instances u to the Cadastre Chamber, where in 2009 their documents were registered."

According to his story, the documents only of those who submitted them a year later - in 2010 - were recognized to be legitimate. "The rest of the people went to court, but their demands were ignored," added Volchenko.

According to his story, the hunger-strikers set up their camp on the banks of the river near the village of Boiko-Ponura in the Kalinin District. Their demands are addressed to Vladimir Rakitin, the head of the Kalinin District, and Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin. Residents of the village will stop their hunger strike, after the peasants' land and houses will be documented as property of former employees.

Tatiana Belyovtseva, head of the division for interaction with local self-governments of the Kalinin District of the Krasnodar Territory, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that the district administration gives no official comments about the hunger strike of the peasants.
