Maksud Sadykov became the twelfth religious figure killed in Northern Caucasus during these two years

Maksud Sadykov, a public and religious figure well known in Dagestan, Chancellor of the Institute of Theology, was killed at the moment of firing at a car in Makhachkala. His nephew Zelimkhan Musaev perished together with him, Investigative Department of Committee of Inquiry of the Russian Federation in Dagestan reported. 

Earlier, the "Caucasian Knot" reported that Maksud Sadykov was shot down by unidentified people on June, 7, at about 21:40, near the front door of the house in Abubakarov street where he lived.

Three victims of firing were initially reported. According to more exact data, two people perished, i.e. the Chancellor and his nephew Zelimkhan Musaev. 

The man who accompanied Sadykov and Musaev was not injured during the assault, Investigative Department of Committee of Inquiry in Dagestan reported. "He remained safe because he was out shopping at the moment of the assault", the source added, according to "Interfax". 

Maksud Sadykov was famous for his social and political activities, he was Chancellor of the Institute of Theology, co-chairman and chairman of the All-Russian political and social movement "Nur" ("Light"). 

In 1986 Sadykov graduated from the Moscow Agricultural Academy named after K.A. Timiryzev (MAA) as economist and manager of agro-industrial complex, in 1990 he accomplished a post-graduate course of MAA and in 1996 the institution of doctoral candidacy of the Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov (social philosophy department) and defended his doctoral thesis. In 1998 - 2000 Sadykov studied at the Academy of National Economy of the Government of the Russian Federation and in 2003-2004 at the Open Ecological University of the Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov. 

In 1997-1999 he worked at the Ministry of National Policy of the Russian Federation, in 1999-2000 at the Ministry of Affairs of Federation and Nationalities of the Russian Federation as a consultant of the Department of Local Self-government, in 2000-2002 at the Ministry of Affairs of Federation, National and Migration Policy as a consultant of the Department of Nationalities. 

In 1998-1999 he headed the Hajj Mission of Russia dealing with organization of pilgrimage of the Russian Moslems. On May, 19, he was among the participants of the meeting of Deputy Head of the Administration of the President of the Russian Federation Vladislav Surkov with representatives of the republican clergy in Makhachkala. 

Sadykov's murder became a new link in the chain of assaults at religious and public figures in Northern Caucasus. According to the calculation of the "Caucasian Knot", no less than 15 attempts of this kind have been committed since the beginning of 2010, 12 persons perished as a result. Nine of them were killed in Dagestan, seven persons in 2010 and two in 2011. Two more people were killed in Kabardino-Balkaria (2010) and North Osetia (2011).

The last murder of this kind was committed about two weeks ago. Shamil Jigkaev, Dean of Osetian Philology Faculty of North-Osetian State University, was killed on May, 26. 

In December, 2010, Mufti of Kabardino-Balkaria Anas Pshikhachev was killed. According to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent, some strangers called Pshikhachev out of the house and shot him down. According to law enforcement bodies, during a special operation in Nalchik on May, 10, 2011, a suspect of involvement in Mufti's murder was killed.
