In Abkhazia, tens of thousands came to funeral of Sergey Bagapsh
Tens of thousands of residents of Abkhazia came in Sukhumi to the square in front of the State Philharmonic Society, where the coffin with the late President Sergey Bagapsh was installed. At noon, the memorial service will begin.
Let us remind you that Sergey Bagapsh died on May 29. On May 21 he underwent surgery on his right lung, which, according to doctors, was successful. However, after the surgery his condition got sharply deteriorated, and despite the measures taken by doctors, he deceased.
The memorial service in Abkhazia is attended by delegation of Northern Caucasus of Russia, Southern Russia, from a number of other regions of Russia, Transnistria, Nagorno-Karabakh, and representatives of foreign Abkhazian Diaspora in Turkey.
After the ceremony, the coffin will be placed, accompanied by the honour guard, on the gun carriage and driven along the central city street that opens to the Sukhumi embankment. The coffin will go across the places, which Bagapsh loved to visit.
Sergey Bagapsh will be buried under the ten-volley salute of an artillery battery in the village of Dzhgerda, Ochamchira District, next to the graves of his parents, the "Interfax" reports.
