Beslan and Moscow commemorate Beslan victims

On June 1, the International Children's Day, a rally "Take Care of Children" was held by the "Beslan Mothers" Association of Victims of Terror Acts in the yard of Beslan School No. 1, which was hit by a terror act in September 2004.

The rally in Beslan brought together the victims, teachers and pupils from other Beslan schools and former hostages at the school capture. The rally was about 100 persons strong; people held posters reading "Parents lose their children; state loses its future citizens."

The participants of the rally criticized the authorities and the course of the inquiry into the tragedy.

Zoya Dzutseva, in particular, said: "For the seventh year in a row neither the Committee 'Beslan Mothers' nor the 'Voice of Beslan' can reach into the offices of bureaucrats to learn the truth about why our children had died and who gave the bandits a chance to get into the centre of Beslan."

She offered to set up a division under the district or city administration for victims' rehabilitation, since there are facts that the health of affected children is worsening.

Aneta Gadieva, a member of the organization "Beslan Mothers", has noted that the school, where the tragedy had occurred, became "an indicator of how childhood is protected in our country."

Moscow also saw today laying flowers at the monument to victims of Beslan tragedy. The event, organized by the representative office of North Ossetia at the Russian President, was attended by public figures, State Duma Deputies and intellectuals.
