In Georgia, one of suspects of insulting Saakashvili arrested, another one fined

In Georgia, the Tbilisi City Court has sentenced Vakhtang Maisuradze and Georgi Lapiashvili, who were detained on May 27 on suspicion that they threw chocolate at Mikhail Saakashvili, when the latter was in the theatre. Maisuradze was sentenced to three months in jail; Lapiashvili was fined by 300 US dollars.

In total, three persons were detained - members of the youth movement "No!" Because of the incident, the area around the theatre was blocked.

Vakhtang Maisuradze was sentenced to 90 days of imprisonment; and Georgi Lapiashvili was fined by 400 laris (300 US dollars). The detainees were charged of disorderly conduct and disobedience to law enforcers. David Patsatsiya was acquitted.

According to detainees' advocate, at the court session his clients claimed that there was no "chocolate throwing"; and young people were just expressing their dissatisfaction with the president in the context of the events in Rustaveli Avenue on May 26, the "Echo of the Caucasus" reports.
