Criminal investigation on beating journalist in Derbent not initiated yet

A criminal case on the fact of beating Magomed Khanmagomedov, a correspondent of "Chernovik", in the city of Derbent has not yet been opened. According to the journalist, the people who had beaten him are known and undertake to reconcile with him. The police claim that the fact of beating is being checked.

Let us remind you, the two men attacked Magomed Khanmagomedov on May 2, when he was filming demolition of a medieval-age house.

According to the journalist, May 11, he was summoned to the investigatory division of the Investigatory Department for Dagestan of the ICRF for evidencing. There, he also faced the people who had attacked him.

"They were walking heroically over the offices of the investigatory division," said Khanmagomedov. According to his story, they tried to reconcile with him and offered, as the journalist believes, to "hush up the case." But he refused to shake hands with them.

On the attack on Khanmagomedov, the newspaper "Chernovik" published an article, which stated that the edition would seek to punish those who attacked Khanmagomedov and the policemen who failed to take steps towards investigating this incident.

Investigator Bagrat Seferaliev from the investigatory division of the city of Derbent is dealing with the case. The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent could not reach him by phone. The contact at the division, who refused to name him, said that the process was underway of questioning eyewitnesses, witnesses, the victim and suspects. When asked about when and on what articles the criminal case would be initiated, he said that it was too early to talk about it and added that it would take about 10 days to collect material facts.
