Assaulted Armenian dies in Moscow Region

On May 15, Grigor Usnyan, 22, a citizen of Armenia, who was attacked on May 8, died in the Chekhov District of the Moscow Region.

As reported by the press service of the Union of Russian Armenians, on May 8, in the village of Novy Byt, Chekhov District, Moscow Region, three natives of Armenia "were attacked by several dozens of radical xenophobes and beat them." As a result, Grigor Usnyan received a grave head trauma and was put under intensive care at the Chekhov district hospital. Two other victims were seriously injured, but now their lives are out of danger.

"The Union of Russian Armenians hopes that the investigatory bodies will accelerate the inquiry of this criminal case and bring the perpetrators to severe liability in accordance with the law of the Russian Federation," the Union of Russian Armenians has stated.

Grigor Usnyan worked as a builder and was in fact the only breadwinner in his family, consisting of an invalid-sister, who lost her leg during the earthquake in Armenia in 1988, and his elderly mother, the IA "News-Armenia" reports.

As previously reported by the "Caucasian Knot", on February 16, in the east of Moscow, a student of one of Moscow universities, a native of Armenia, was murdered.
