A drug policeman in Volgograd condemned for drug traffic

A verdict concerning Igor Chetvertukhin, senior operative officer of Uriupinsk Inter-regional department of Federal Service of Drug Control, came into effect. He was acknowledged guilty of an attempt of illegal drug traffic and abuse of authority. 

Nicolay Larionov, Head of Uriupinsk Inter-regional Investigative Department of the Committee of Inquiry in Volgograd region, reported that the policeman was detained on January, 14, 2010. 

The investigation established that the senior lieutenant transferred over two kilogram marijuana to a man who had formerly been in custody for drug traffic. The officer of Federal Service of Drug Control asked him to sell the drugs and return him the money he would receive. The man reported the drug policeman's plan to the police and Federal Security Service. As a result of operational search actions the senior officer was detained at the moment of returning him the money allegedly received for sold marijuana, V1.ru portal reports. 

The drug police officer did not acknowledge himself guilty, however the court sentenced him to nine years of custody in a strict regime colony. The policeman disagreed with the judgment and filed an appeal but the appellate court brought a standing judgment.

  • Court releases Malgobek law enforcers accused of extortion

    Three policemen from Ingushetia, accused of using violence against a detainee and extortion, have been released. The Supreme Court (SC) of Ingushetia has explained that the period specified by law for the preliminary investigation had expired and their further detention is illegal.
