Moscow hosts event dated to 20 years of Law "On Rehabilitation of Repressed Nations"

Today, Moscow hosts an event dated to the 20th anniversary of the adoption by the Supreme Soviet of the Russian Federation of the Law No. 1107-1 "On Rehabilitation of Repressed Nations". The event is held by the Ingush public living in Moscow.

The Law of the RSFSR (Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic) "On Rehabilitation of Repressed Nations" was adopted on April 26, 1991. Among those who favoured the new law were the then Ingush MPs Ibragim Kostoev and Bembulat Bogatyryov. The text of the law was designed by Beksultan Seinaroev and Beslan Kostoev, members of the Committee for Restoration of Ingush Autonomy.

According to Doctor of Law Beksultan Seinaroev, the Law "On Rehabilitation of Repressed Nations" was treated by many as the "law of hope" for the twelve nations repressed by Stalin.

"Although 20 years elapsed after the adoption of the law, its Article 6 on territorial rehabilitation of the repressed nations is still unfulfilled," Dr Seinaroev told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
