A resident of Tbilisi sewed up his mouth at a hunger strike of solicitors

A resident of Tbilisi Sulhan Dekanoidze joined a five-days hunger strike of oppositional solicitors near the building of the Georgian Parliament and sewed up his mouth. Dekanoidze expresses his protest against the detention of his brother David stating that he is illegally kept in the investigative isolation ward.

Earlier, the "Caucasian Knot" reported that the solicitors' action of protest started on May, 17. The participants' major demand is regeneration of justice in the country, ensuring the proper conditions for the solicitors in which they might be free in carrying out their professional duties.

Dekanoidze who joined the action on May, 18, states that his brother was detained for accusation of illegal crossing the border. Dekanoidze says his brothers is seriously ill and has lived abroad several years where he underwent therapy, "Novosti-Georgia" reports.

New participants are going to join the hunger strike. "On May, 20, 25 solicitors will arrive from Imeretia", Shalva Khachapuridze, one of the participants of the action, said. The action will last till May, 21.
