In Karachay-Cherkessia, Orthodox Church set on fire

As reported by the local MIA, in the village of Costa-Khetagurov, Karachay-Cherkessia, unidentified persons set fire to the church and destroyed the stela of St George Victorious.

"The arson was committed today at about 5:00 a.m. inside the Shaonin Church. According to preliminary data, there are traces of someone's possible penetration into the church," local law enforcers report.

Currently, all the circumstances of the fire in the church are studied, the "Interfax" reports.

According to the republic's MIA, the church suffered minor damage. The floor and windows were partially burnt. The window glass went out, the RIA "Novosti" reports.

Earlier, on November 1, 2010, in Karachay-Cherkessia, unidentified criminals set three Christian Churches on fire: two of them in Karachayevsk and one in Ordzhonikidzevskaya.
