Baku commemorates victims of massacre in ASOA

Today, activists of oppositional political parties and youth organizations of Azerbaijan have managed, despite the obstacles erected by the police, to hold in Baku an action in memory of the casualties of the mass murder committed at the Azerbaijani State Oil Academy (ASOA).

On April 30, 2009, a native of Georgia Farda Gadir entered the building of the ASOA and open pistol fire killing 12 and wounding 13 persons; after which he shot himself dead.

The today's memory action was attended by about 150 activists of youth branches of political parties: the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan (PFPA), "Musavat", youth organizations "Nida" (Outcry), "Azad Gyandzhlik" (Free Youth) and others.

Young people laid flowers at the building. The police and persons plainclothes did not interfere with the march; at the same time they did not allow the participants of the action to group together at the building.

No incidents happened; young people did not shout any slogans; nobody was detained.
