The first North-Caucasian biannual exhibition will start working in Dagestan

The exhibition project of modern art "North-Caucasian biannual" will be first opened in the town of Kaspiisk, Dagestan, today. 

"The theme of the first project "North-Caucasian biannual" is "Communication". Its main goal is presentation of works of modern art created by young artists of Northern Caucasus, establishing personal and creative communications among them, cultural integration, creation and development of new artistic traditions", Jamilya Dagirova, author and key worker of the project, Director of "First Gallery" - "Museum of Modern Art" art center, said. 

Earlier, the "Caucasian Knot" reported that the biannual would be working in Dagestan since April, 22, till June, 22. Painting, graphic arts, sculpture, installations and objects, photo and video art will be presented there. According to Dagirova, over 55 professional young artists from all the republics of Northern Caucasus have become participants of the exhibition.  

The author of the project considers that the biannual is an attempt to analyze modern state of North-Caucasian art, its language and style, modern authors' thoughts and ideas, their moral and spiritual searching, RIA "Novosti" reports. 

According to the program of NCB, the opening ceremony will be held on April, 22, and on April, 23, there will be a joint flash-installation of the participants of "Communications", a round work table with the participation of Dagestani artists, experts, the guests invited by NCB, mass media, representatives of the authorities. On April, 24, the participants will be offered a cultural program and an excursion to Derbent. The exhibition will be working till June, 22, RIA "Dagestan" reports.

  • Court releases Malgobek law enforcers accused of extortion

    Three policemen from Ingushetia, accused of using violence against a detainee and extortion, have been released. The Supreme Court (SC) of Ingushetia has explained that the period specified by law for the preliminary investigation had expired and their further detention is illegal.
