In Armenia, oppositionist Samson Khachatryan sentenced conditionally

 

Today, on April 19, the court in Yerevan sentenced Samson Khachatryan, an activist of the oppositional Armenian National Congress (ANC), twice European champion and five times champion of the USSR in boxing, was sentenced on charges of violent acts against state officials to one year of conditional imprisonment.

His case was tried by the court of general jurisdiction of the prefectures Kentron and Nork-Marash. At the session, the prosecutor asked to convict the oppositionist to 2 years in prison. Ara Zakaryan, Khachatryan's advocate, on the contrary, demanded to completely acquit her client for lack of proofs. Immediately after the announcement of the verdict Samson Khachatryan was released.
