Drug testing will be organized at schools of Stavropol

The authorities of Stavropol will allot about 250 thousand rubles on drug testing at schools of the city. Testing will be voluntary.

Earlier, the "Caucasian Knot" reported that pupils and students of Northern Caucasus would undergo drug testing.

"Voluntary drug testing has already been carried out in Dagestan, KCR and Chechnya but this was only the beginning of the work which will be continued from now on", Denis Yermakov, Deputy Head of Department of State Counter-drugs Committee in South Caucasian Federal Okrug, said. The respective decisions have been taken in the rest of the subjects of the region.

A charitable organization "Faith, Hope, Love" in Stavropol region has realized a project "Establishing healthy and prosperous community by means of prophylaxis of socially-significant diseases" (financially supported by Kingdom of the Netherlands) which has had a counter-drugs orientation among other goals.

According to Sergey Bogomolov, Head of Department of Interdepartmental Coordination of Counter-drugs activities of Stavropol Administration, all the schoolchildren aged from 14 to 16 will be suggested to undergo testing this year.

"This testing among teen-agers will let us reveal the children's inclination to taking drugs at an early stage. The main thing to do is to prevent the young people from falling down into the drug pit", "Interfax-Yug" quotes Bogomolov.

According to Sergey Bogomolov, the public opinion poll carried out at a city-wide parents' meeting at the end of last year showed the parents' readiness and desire to know whether their children have ever taken substances containing drugs.

Stavropol Administration reported purchasing a special device for electropunctural diagnostics of the use of drug and psychoactive agents. The web-site of Stavropol Administration informs that this had been stipulated by city program "INdependence".
