South-Ossetian city of Kvaisa has failure of water supply

On April 15, as a result of an accident with the water line "Vezur-Kvaisa", the city of Kvaisa, South Ossetia, remained without water. The municipal services detected three significant damages of the water line caused by mudflows.

"Unfortunately, we can't eliminate the impacts of mudflows, since the Kvaisa administration has no proper equipment due to lack of financial resources," said Pavel Bitiev, head of the housing-municipal service of Kvaisa.

However, they will be helped by builders. "The city administration turned to contractors performing construction works in Kvaisa; they will give us the necessary equipment," said Bitiev.

Inal Istaev, head of Kvaisa, who is in the place of the incident together with workers, said that the repairs will continue day and night. "We'll work all the day, if necessary, also at night, but by morning we should resume the water supply to the city," the "Res" quotes him as saying.

The water line "Vezur-Kvaisa" is 12 km long; the failure happened 7 km off the city. The line was built in 1954, and never repaired since.
