In Georgia, Labourites initiate large-scale amnesty

The Georgian Labour Party has moved a legislative initiative assuming a large-scale amnesty in the country.

As stated by Nestan Kirtadze, the international secretary of the party, the amnesty should cover those convicted for less serious crimes, minor criminals, those at the age of 60 and Category I and II invalids.

The Labourites have prepared a respective bill and plan to bring it to the Parliament of Georgia. The bill also assumes to halve the prison terms of serious criminals.

"The bill is now under experts' examination; and next week it will be formally presented to the legislative body," the "News-Georgia" quotes the Labourites' spokesman.
